I can’t believe the 1st month of Summer Reading Fest is over. Hopefully, y’all are digging into some good books. Overall, I’ve been pretty pleased with my selections. Here’s what I’ve finished…
- Frumps to Pumps (eBook)
- Always Know What To Say: Easy Ways to Approach and Talk to Anyone (eBook)
- The Fitting Room: Putting on the Character of Christ
Of the three, Frumps to Pumps was the only one that was so-so. (The other two, I’d definitely recommend.) The book is geared towards stay-at-home moms–which is fine, except challenges like “take a shower today” don’t really help me seeing as though I work outside the home full-time. Showering and dressing on a daily basis are kinda givens already. I
Right now, I’m about half-way through Elizabeth The Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch. Can I just say that I’m really enjoying this book? Aside from the fact that it’s pretty thick and taking me way longer than I’d like to get through it, I am eating it up. The Queen’s life is absolutely fascinating–partly because it’s so far removed from my own, but also because of how meticulously orchestrated her life has been. I’m pretty sure, by now, hubbie is cringes every time he hears me say, “Did you know the Queen…”
So, after I finish reading Elizabeth the Queen, I’ll have 3 points on my Summer Reading Fest scorecard. (More on the score keeping system–and prizes–here.)
As a side note, I’m officially an eReader advocate. I love the fact that I can read in my bed at night without having to turn on the lights.
Reading check-in…How’s your reading going? What good books did you read? Are you psyched up for the final month of Summer Reading Fest?
p.s. I snuck another book on my reading list. I’d forgotten that the Purpose Driven Life was a 40-day devotional. My plan is to pick it up later this year; and in its place, I’ll be reading Tim Tebow’s book, Through My Eyes. I saw it at the library and couldn’t resist. He just seems like such a great, well-rounded kid.

So far, so good. My books for the summer are 2 math workbooks I purchased online for Intermediate and College Algebra. My goal is to bypass taking Intermediate Algebra in the Fall and go straight into College Algebra.
Not the most exciting reading, but reading nonetheless. Way to go!!
