2012 Week In My Life: Day #1

Today kicks off my favorite series–Week In My Life hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo. For seven days, you’ll get an insider’s peek into life in my crazy, I mean, well-rounded home. To get started, you can catch up on last year’s posts or jump down to Day #1 below.

Week In My Life

Want to know what our typical mornings are like? Wait a minute… every parent knows there are no “typical” days. Monday was certainly no exception. I overslept, our kids were in rare form and I temporarily lost my cell phone.

5:20 a.m. The 1st of my three alarms goes off. This one means I should get up and read my Bible, pray and spend some alone time with God. Unfortunately though, I stayed up past 1:00 a.m. watching the movie Avengers so I don’t make it up.

5:50 a.m. The 2nd alarm goes off. Normally, this would mean it’s time to get dressed. I opt to hit snooze instead.

5:55 a.m. The washing machine starts. I usually like the fact I can preset it to start, but today I’m slightly annoyed because the noise is disturbing my precious sleep.

6:00 a.m. I finally drag myself out of bed, shower and get dressed. Like I’ve done just about every morning, I keep all the lights off and carry on in complete darkness and silence until I put on my make-up.

6:30 a.m. The last of my three alarms goes off, alerting me to check-in with my Hello Mornings group. One of the things I love about this group, is even when my morning is a total fail when it comes to time with the Lord, they’re always full of grace and encouragement.

6:40 a.m. Hubbie and the kids are up now. I iron all the kid’s clothes (something I keep meaning to do the night before), then finish getting myself dressed while hubbie gets serves up the boys’ breakfast.

7:05 a.m. I work on getting baby girl dressed. She’s especially testy this morning and puts up quite a fight while I comb her hair.

7:35 a.m. I pop some bread in the toaster, get packed up for work and notice my phone is missing.

7:40 a.m. Phone located. I’m now running 15 minutes late. Hubbie works on getting the kids in the car while I hop in my car to go to work. As I’m pulling off, I catch the boys fighting each other, Christiana’s crying about something while hubbie’s passionately (heh-heh!) telling them all to be quiet and get in the car. I smile on the inside–so glad not to be him–turn up my music way loud and enjoy being in my little happy cocoon.

The most awesome part of this day–knowing we get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Your turn…have you ever tracked a day in your family’s life. What would people find the most surprising about your mornings?

p.s. My plan was to add a few pictures from our morning, but I again have misplaced my phone. Arrghh!!!
