What I Wore Wednesday

I’ve been seeing What I Wore Wednesday posts around the internet for awhile and have secretly wanted to join in. From what I gather, ladies take pictures of their outfit and describe what they’re wearing not to show off how cute they are but to challenge themselves to put more effort into what they’re wearing. The only problem with me joining in–well, there are really two…

One, I hate taking pictures. I usually feel self conscious about all my imperfections, and the fact that I’m not one of those cutesy gals with the perfect pose, perfect smile, perfect hair, etc. You know the ones.

Two, I’m really not that great when it comes to fashion and makeup. Heck, I just learned to use eyeliner a couple of years ago–and I’m 36 years old. Do I really want to remind myself and the everyone else about this on a weekly basis?

Fortunately, all of that is so 2012. This is 2013, and I’m all about taking it up a notch. I’ve got a baby girl to raise up and mentor. I want her to look her best and feel good doing it. So, at lunch today, I decided this would be my year to join in the What I Wore Wednesday fun. I’m going to master a gorgeous smoky eye, flaunt a fly scarf and generally rock it like I did in my 20s before marriage and kids got me all comfortable. I don’t want Christiana thinking becoming a mom means a life sentence of mom jeans. Here’s what I wore…

The clothes

I’ll preface this by saying this morning I had no clue that I’d be sharing a pic of myself with y’all. Had I known, I would’ve put in a little more effort in dressing. When you work for a company of three, and the dress is casual, you get a little lazy. Nevertheless, these are one of my favorite pairs of jeans because they make it look like I have some behind (watch out J-Lo). I love them so much that I still wear them even with the little paint stain on one knee. I paired them with a white t-shirt, sweater hoodie and brown booties. This outfit kind of screams boy mom to me. What about you?

The hair

My fallback–the slicked back ponytail. You wouldn’t know that I actually chopped off all my hair a few weeks back just so I wouldn’t keep resorting to the ponytail. Unfortunately, I realized It’d grown just enough for me to tie it ip. So much for trying to look my age, right?

Makeup

My makeup routine consists of a dab here and there, mascara, eyeliner and call it a day. I’m completely deficient in this area, but this is my year to do it right. I use a combination of MAC and over the counter makeup.

That’s my look for today. Starting next week, I’ll post these on my Facebook page so make sure you like the Well-Rounded Home fan page so you can follow my progress, give me some pointers or tell me when an outfit is dead wrong. You would tell me those things, right?.

What did you wear? Any good makeup how to’s or videos I should know about.

That attire is a bit laid back Kacey. That’s an attire for dress Friday. I guess I’m like you I like being comfortable all the time (no matter what)! After my foot surgery almost a year ago – nothing higher than a 2 inch for me. I would love for someone to come in and give me a few pointers on updating my look (especially my hair..
Why don’t you make a change in the office, just to see how many positive comments you receive.

Ok, so you don’t have a “Professional” work look. But hey…you sure look good at 36!!
